When morning comes, the ants are violently awoken by a large scoop lifting them out of the crystal jar and dropping them into a hot brown liquid. The two ants have decided to tarry and eat crystals to their hearts’ content. Hurrying home, they fail to notice that two small ants have stayed behind. In the perilous and confounding world of the human kitchen, the ants find the bowl of delicious crystals. Following the scout, the ants travel through the “forest” to the “mountain” they must climb in order to reach the treasure they seek. That evening the other ants, wishing to make the queen happy, set off on a journey to fetch home as many of these crystals as they can carry. ![]() When an ant scout returns home with a mysterious crystal, the queen ant decides it is the most delicious food she has ever tasted. ![]()

Books like ocean at the end of the lane6/24/2023 ![]() ![]() He believes Lettie has gone to Australia, but as he visits her family and sits beside Lettie’s ocean, he undergoes a sort of daydream about what really happened to Lettie, the frightening adventure they might have shared in childhood, a dream that may or may not be a memory. ![]() As he nears Hempstock Farm at the very end, he begins to remember things from his past, about the girl who lived there at the end of the lane, who called the fish pond behind the farm house her ocean. ![]() Without knowing quite why, he passes the place where his parents’ house once stood and continues down the lane. I had high hopes for The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and it definitely lived up to my expectations.Ībout the book: A man is attending a funeral near his childhood home, and decides afterward to detour down the lane where his family used to live. I loved Neil Gaiman’s Coraline as a child (although the other mother’s button eyes particularly terrified me), and when I read his new Norse Mythology book earlier this year I was inspired to pick up a few more of his novels. ![]()

They’ve finally been adopted by Emily and her husband, but when Emily falls pregnant, Flora and Julian embark on a journey to find out where they came from, trying to reconcile their past with their fear that no family will ever truly be their forever home. Forever, Or a Long, Long Time by Caela Carter is the story of Flora and Julian, two siblings who have been in the care system almost all their lives. ![]()

Snyder died unexpectedly August 4, 2009, of what was characterized as either a pulmonary embolism or cardiac arrest. ![]() Snyder led international seminars and workshops for writers in various disciplines, as well as consultation sessions for some of Hollywood's largest studios. Through his Save the Cat trilogy of books on screenwriting and story structures, Snyder became one of the most popular writing mentors in the film industry. His screenplays include the comedies Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992) and Blank Check (1994).
